I have been gilding for over 20 years. That creation path has brought me to some of the finest buildings in the world, to the film industry.
Some examples of my works (have gilded tens of thousands of objects in my career)
One of my 11 assistants and I, on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ live action movie, gilded this elaborate hand built mirror frame with genuine 22 1/4 carat Italian gold leaf. This prop was a major set piece for the Beast’s Palace for the movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Fun fact – On the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ movie, my team and I used more than 10,000 gold leaves to props, models, miniatures and other set pieces.
Fully Gilded ‘Throne’ chair with Genuine gold leaves for the movie ‘Beauty and the Beast’. To achieve this gilding process with real gold leaves 2 assistants and I worked in under a kind of tent made from clear plastic. The issue was it was a very hot summer, but we couldn’t use fans as it would blow the gilding papers everywhere!

Test piece for Beauty and the Beast Movie’s main animated character Lumiere with a ‘before’ resin cast look. Genuine Italian gold leaves were applied to the test
Fully Gilded console table. The resin cast table was cast in a deepred brown colour for me to use as a ‘Fonteroy’ base.
Genuine Gilding applied to a handbuilt Harpsichord
French blue with gilded leaves and scrolls. A thin gilt painted perimeter line was applied on the Harpsichord cover.
So from the above you see the pedigree and level of craftsmanship I have given as a service to the film industry; no mistakes or delusions of grandeur there! This is a tiny portion of my works in the movie industry, my works in the entertainment industry as a whole over a span of 35 years!
